Lagos town, in the municipality of Lagos, has a rich history being the base for the 'Voyages of the Discoveries' instigated by Henry the Navigator in the 15th century. The historic old town centre is surrounded by the city walls, with cobblestone streets full of quaint cafes, bars and traditional houses
boasting character and charm.
Alongside the historical areas of the old town, you will find modern facilities and small businesses, urban restaurants, quality restaurants and modern bars. Lagos perfectly blends traditional Portuguese culture with modern entrepreneurship and tourism.
The Avenida dos Descobrimentos (avenue of the discoveries) runs along the water front to Lagos Marina
, which holds the Euromarina Anchor Award and the Blue Flag award. There are a variety of shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy at the marina, plus some prestigious apartment complexes overlooking the marina, or within a short walking distance.
On the outskirts of Lagos city centre you will find many apartment buildings and condominiums, plus larger detached homes.
Lagos is perfectly located on the south coast of Portugal and offers some of the most scenic beaches
and sandy coves in Portugal, such as Praia Dona Ana, Ponta da Piedade and Porto de Mos. Plus of course Meia Praia beach - a 4km stretch of golden sand to the East of Lagos town centre.
